When I first met Maria and Gabriele, I felt home, right away.

With social restrictions for the Covid-19 virus, none of us felt safe to meet in a cafe, so they invited me to their place. Where they prepared the best aperitivo ever, just for the three of us.

They live in a cozy, beautiful apartment in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, not too far from the Château Malou.

Maria is from Athens, Gabriele is from Palermo. They both are sea lovers (just as I am), and they ended up in Brussels for work. And each time they can, they go back to their lands and their blue seas.

It’s funny to say this - and it has no connection to the story, maybe: recently I had my DNA tested, and I found out that I am for the 60% Greek and Southern Italian. Could it be for this reason that we all felt at home with each other, as soon as we met? 🙂

And the second thing I felt is Love.

Strong, determined, hilarious, deep Love. It looks like Maria and Gabriele have been together for all their life. They don’t even need to talk, and you can feel the strength with which their souls are linked. No matter what difficulties or obstacles they had to face.

The Château Malou has a wonderful park and a peaceful lake, where the swans were chilling around, and where we took a little walk, after the ceremony.

The ceremony itself was short, but really deep and intense: we all forgot we were wearing masks and were socially distanced, when listening to the officiant’s words of love. The Château Malou is simple and elegant, inside.

This for me was the first wedding I worked at during the Covid period, and I admit it: it wasn’t easy. But I couldn’t be luckier, because I felt I was working for friends.

And that’s what we became, after their sweet wedding day: friends.
